Client Project

I've been working on a clients dining, entry and home office for several weeks now and things are starting to finally move forward.  Furniture is being delivered, painting done, and lighting about to be installed.  But my most favorite area by far is the entry.  They have this beautiful dome in the entry that was unfortunately painted with an oh-so-not pretty faux finish (I apologize to you lovers of faux finishing). Now mind you-the copper finish was not the unattractive part-it was the black vine-y/ swirly thing along the edges.

Here is the before: unfortunately you can't see the vine-y thing in this photo.

We had it repainted in a cream color and are having custom wooden beams installed and a new to-die-for chandelier!!

Here is the current progress when I stopped in today: (boy is he gonna have a crick in his neck when he's done)

Hopefully next week I will have complete after photos for you.

And here is a sneak peek of whats going in the office:

New Lamps

A few weeks ago I visited my local Habitat Restore and scored a pair of Visual Comfort lamps for $30 each!  They were brand new and were only missing shades.

I added these black linen shades from Ballard Designs:

I also received the new Nate Berkus book- The Things that Matter and let me tell you its amazing!  I haven't even got to all the eye candy because Im so caught up in the story!!  I cried my eyes out when I read the part about him losing his partner in the 2004 Tsunami.

After several pages in Nate talks about decorating your home with pieces that speak to you and have meaning to you and your family.  So between my new lamps I added a couple of books we bought on our trip to London and added a piece of coral from our vacation in Florida.  Both great reminders of sweet time my hubby and I spent alone without kids!!

And in other exciting news----- I finally found THE chandelier for my dining room!  It will be installed later this week and I can't wait to have that photographed and checked off my "to-do" list!

A little peek of the chandelier- its Currey & Company-Demure

Living Room E-Design

I recently finished an E-Design for a client who needed help with some final touches in her living room.  She had all her main elements and just needed some accessories and tips on how to make the space come together.  I am always amazed at my clients who have such a great eye for design and all they really need is someone to say "yes!" "go for it"! Her space was built around this amazing rust colored oriental rug.  We pulled in some graphic pillows for interest and contrast and layered the rug with a zebra cowhide.  She is still deciding if she wants to use the zebra rug as a layered rug or use it to recover the bench- either one will be amazing.

Im hoping she will share some after photos with us soon!

note: I do not share sources out of respect for paying clients.  Thank you for understanding.

E-Design for Dining Room

Good morning friends!  I wanted to share a recent e-design I completed for a clients dining room.  She wanted to keep her existing dark wood dining table and everything else was fair game.  Here is what I came up with:

This first option was keeping it simple with linen side chairs and slipcovered end chairs:

The Second Option:  I changed out the end chairs for a patterned chair and switched the rug to gray.

Which one is your favorite?  I'll let you know soon what she choose and hopefully some after photos too!

Note: I do not share sources out of respect for paying clients- thank you for your understanding.

Weekend Shopping

For those of you who follow me on Instagram you probably saw all my great finds this past Saturday.  It will truly a great day of deals!

First stop was HomeGoods where I scored a replacement for poor old Horace (my horse head).  He made an unfortunate fall while I was styling my fireplace mantel for Autumn.  I shared his injury on Instagram and had some great suggestions of what to do with him and his one-eyed self.

But in the end I scored this new guy from HomeGoods and am quite excited about him:

I also grabbed this guy- Im thinking I need a name for him as well.

After I loaded up the boys in my car, I headed over to the Habitat Restore Store.

Now Ive been to the Habitat Restore place before and usually walk out empty handed, but not this day.

I bought a pair of these Anita Visual Comfort lamps- brand new-they were still wrapped in bubble wrap & styro foam. They retail for $420 each- here.  I paid......wait for it...............$30 a lamp!  Thats what they call a Jesus deal!!!

Im thinking of adding black shades to them.

I also grabbed this Visual Comfort brass floor lamp:

It retails for $399 here  and I paid.........$30 for it- oh yes I did!  So needless to say I was doing quite the happy dance that day.

Oh and I also found this great wooden pillar to hold my man-head (the one my family hates and wishes he would fall to his death).  I like the weathered wood and how it matches the buffet in my dining room.

Now after seeing all these pictures of statues & busts Im starting to think I might be a little weird.  I guess you could say Im one mounted deer head away  from being off my rocker.

Fall Mantel

This year I've been inspired by all the gold dipped vases and jars out there in blog land- so I decided to apply some gold to the bottoms of my ceramic pumpkins.  My dear friend Cyndy from The Creativity Exchange introduced me to this amazing paint found in the hobby section of the local craft store.  Its called Testor's Enamel.  Cyndy used it to paint some vases here. I borrowed this picture from Cyndy's blog because I forgot to take a photo of mine.

I pulled out some old ceramic pumpkins from last year and painted the bottoms  gold.  On my smaller ones I painted the stems & leaves gold.
