Haven Re-Cap

Well for my first ever blogging conference I have to say I had a blast!! and I am beyond thrilled that I pushed past my fear and went.  I met some of the most beautiful and amazing women & gentlemen (Mr. GWH) that I will never forget.

I finally got to meet Lori from Lori May Interiors and let me just tell you she is a treasure!  She was so sweet to pick me up at the airport and basically be by my side the entire conference! She had a friend (who is also a blogger) come with her to the conference and I am so glad to have had the chance to get to know her as well- Jen from At Home In The NorthWest.

A Fashion Post, well sorta....

Let's talk clothes today shall we?  I have to be honest I have never really been one to droll over Fashion Magazines and go ga ga over heels and handbags.  But that has since changed.  See, I have two very beautiful younger sisters:

who are also very silly...

AND very fashionable.  Seriously, they are my inspiration and it doesn't hurt that my youngest sister is a personal shopper for J Crew.  So over the past year I have been gutting my closet of dark, drab, dank (is that a word?) clothing and replacing it with color!  It started with a few statement necklaces and a pair of hot pink pumps and I haven't looked back since.

Last night I picked up a pair of Calvin Klein cobalt blue jeans and got home and thought "what in the heck do you wear with cobalt?" so after several text and photos to my sissy's we have narrowed it down to these two tops.

Leopard:

Graphic black & white:

(p.s. dont mind the black trash bag in the back ground- I pulled another two bags full of dank, drab clothes out of my closet last week and need to drop them off at GoodWill)

So what about you- do you have a color in your closet? have you jumped on the brightly hued wardrobe train?

Haven Conference & Wallpaper

Happy Monday friends!  So later this week I will be attending my very first every blogging conference- Haven in Atlanta, GA.  Im feeling a bit like the new kid on the 1st day of school- Im already tearing through my closet to find my "1st day of School" outfit and hoping I don't look like a total nerd and stick out like a sore thumb.  So if any of you are going as well- please come find me and assure me I have nothing to fear!  (I'll be the one standing on the sidelines with eyes a big as quarters) .

In other news- I was at Lowes the other day and wandered down the wallpaper isle and noticed that Allen Roth has a line of wallpaper.  This is good stuff people! Not your typical green & white ivy or random Lighthouses type of wallpaper (no offense if you like this type) that most Home Improvement stores carry.

All the books are color sorted by color group-so there is a Green book, Blue Book, Neutrals, and even a Metallics one!

Here are some of my favorites:

Loving the mint & gold Asian print.

Chocolate & silver damask.

Red & Gold

Citron & Silver- yes please!

Mint, Magenta, and Gold- need I say more?

Loved this gray & white trellis because of the Acorn in the center.

This was a beautiful damask with a pearlesque finish.

Another Pearlesque pattern.

Jade & Gold

Fun Bird Print

And my favorite--like I wanted to buy it right then & there and run home & hang it---How fun would this be for a power bath?  (Orange, Magenta & Gold)

Have any of you tried his wallpaper?  I'd love to know your thoughts.

Cheers!

Client's Guest Bedroom Sneak Peek

Im working on a guest bedroom for a local client and she was wanting something coastal and calm with a touch of glam.  I used the Windsor Smith Riad in Seafoam as my jumping off point and had custom cornice boards made.

For the glam- this drum shade chandelier from Shades of Light.

And for the coastal- this driftwood mirror from Crate & Barrel- this thing is HEAVY!

We are still waiting on the rug to be delivered and some more custom upholstery pieces and pillows.  I can't wait to to all the final pieces into place.

Client's Yoga Room

Recently I finished up a design for a local client.  Her oldest had moved out for college and she wanted to use the bedroom as her yoga room and a place for some quiet time.  The antique sleigh bed was to stay and everything else was fair game.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

We had the cushion on the day bed reupholstered and added custom pillows and bolster.

The fabrics are beautiful embroidered linen in citron, blue and gray and are from Clarke & Clarke.

A custom upholstered cornice board hides the Levolor window shade mechanism.

In the corner we placed a linen chair from West Elm and a garden stool.

The media cabinet from Pottery Barn works perfectly for her TV and yoga videos.

E-Design

I recently finished an e-design for a client's living room.  She had already purchased a beautiful charcoal gray sofa, and a cream leather wingback chair.  She wanted to incorporate some blues and creams and a touch of glam.  I choose some fun accent pieces in gold and added texture with a sisal rug and an all white cowhide rug layered on top.

If you would like help creating a space you love, please contact me at: amandaeck@hotmail.com for more info.

**Out of respect for paying clients I do not share sources, thank you for understanding.

DIY Greek Key Trimmed Drapery

I am finally getting around to showing you my Greek Key trimmed drapes. I purchased this blue greek key fabric from Premier Prints.  I bought enough yardage for the length of my drapery.

I am horrible at tutorials -so I will try my best to explain.  I cut straight down the length of the fabric and ironed the edges first.

Then folded it in half an ironed that.

I then opened it up and placed the edge of the drapery inside the folded area.  Making it where the Greek Key would be on the front & back side of the drapery.  To attach the trim I used hem tape- and ironed it on.  (forgot to take a photo of that part).  You could also sew it on, but I didnt want a seam to show so I choose the hem tape.
