My Sister: TeamGiles

I have two amazing sisters.  They are my best friends and my personal fashion stylist.  Cuz lets be honest- I can decorate a room in 10 seconds flat-but ask me to fix my hair, make-up or wardrobe and I stare at you like a deer in headlights.  My baby sister Sarah is a personal shopper at J Crew and the girl knows clothes! And we finally talked her into starting her own blog (which I will introduce soon)
BUT today Im wanting to introduce my other sister Lauren and her blog Team Giles.  An amazing blog full of great recipes, healthy eating tips, work out tips, and full of words of encouragement for those struggling with their weight or health.  You have GOT to read her story here- it will truly inspire you.  Trust me its worth the read.

AND because my blog is all about interiors I wanted to also share some pictures of Lauren's beautiful home.  As a newly married couple her and her husband have enjoyed making "their" home together.

So head on over to TeamGiles and show her some love!

YOU KNOW YOU GOT A GOOD DEAL WHEN..........

So on my normal weekly visit to HomeGoods I spotted these chairs that screamed Restoration Hardware, but whispered Im only $149!!
So of course I had to snatch them up- I mean really they "wanted" me!

Here's the Restoration Hardware version:

At $279 a chair (which does not include shipping & handling)

Then I noticed on the bottom of the chair: Safavieh - which is a rug maker-but apparently they sell furniture too.  So I looked them up and low & behold there was my chair:

For $295 a chair!! (which does not include shipping & handling)

So I think its pretty safe to say..... I got a good deal!

P.S.- they only had 2 chairs at my local store- so I drove an hour South and found 1 more- so I'm just needing 1 more!!!  Im on a hunt! Its on like donkey-kong!!!

GOING TOPLESS

Ladies & Gents Im going topless!!  In my living room.....in front of my windows........ seriously Im doing it!!  Im taking down my top.................. off my curtains!  (you were scared for a bit werent you?)

Thats right!! NO MORE VALANCES!!!  Im over-em----done!!  Now don't get all upset with me- I still like valances--just kinda tired of the look.  Its a bit too traditional for me.  and I want to let you know-its OK to go topless.  let those drapes hang out!! Let them be free!!  You will be amazed at how much more light your room will get!
Here are just few examples of some (in the words of my best friend)  "No Mam!!"  (and if these pictures are of your home or someone you know-I do apologize in advance)

Now to be fair to you Valance-lovers out there, here are some examples of treatments done tastefully.

How cute are these? and love the pop of pink trim!!

Now here are mine:  I have had this Waverly Country House Toile for quite some time.  I still love it, but its just not the direction Im going in my home anymore.

And here it is now: (you'll also noticed I painted.  Its Restoration Hardware's Stone and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it)

Layla Grace Love

Have you heard of Layla Grace?  I use to think of it as only childrens bedding & decor.  But they have so much more than that.  Their Home Decor section is AMAZING!!! furniture, fabrics, lighting, accessories.  Here is just a sample of some of their goodies:

Love this weather finish on this little dresser.  It would be great in an entry with a large gilded gold mirror hung above it.

And this French chair that is so popular- you can get them at Restoration Hardware, Ballards, and...... I saw one very similar at HomeGoods the other day-oh yes I did!!!

This piece is just beautiful-hmmm maybe a Goodwill find with a great white-wash finish?

Ok and just when you thought we were done with burlap--these drawers have painted burlap on them!!  I smell a DIY project coming on.

Ok so this chair-love it but it is quite pricey... $394 .

But tell me these Preston Chairs from Overstock.com dont look VERY similar!  and the price?  $394.99 for the PAIR!!!
(your all gonna go order these now arent you?)

This floor lamp!!! need I say more?

OK now this chandelier from Artieriors is of course beautiful-price tag-hmmm not so much. But tell me you wouldnt do a serious bust-a-move happy dance if you found one for $40!!!?  Cuz thats exactly what Shannon from Anythingology did.  Go here read all about it.

Ok and last but not least this little summer-y mirror.  Girls go grab your jute and get to wrapping!!  This would be sooo easy to replicate on a budget.

So head on over to Layla Grace for more inspiration.  Then get your DIY on make something similar yourself.
