Your dresser is a fantastic find! Bassett is one of the best companies for French Provincial dressers. Thanks for linking to my Swedish Furniture site. I also have a French Provincial Furniture blog which discusses all french provincial pieces. I love the dressers the best!

In my header I painted a french dresser in a gray finish.

What you should do is just strip the dresser and apply a wash of gray on the dresser. Either a gray glaze, or work with a paint of your choice and water it down. You will get the Restoration Hardware look that way. Meranda
