Laundry's ready :-)

Well It Is Finished. I did it! I got the laundry room makeover done BEFORE baby. I honestly didnt think I would finish it in time. I even thought climbing the ladder and painting would put me into labor (it didn't- Im STILL waiting for this little guy) Anyway- here is the before pictures. It was a catch all room for EVERYTHING- crafts, diapers, clothes, shoes, books, old decor, new decor, candles, Christmas wrapping paper, and list went on and on.........

I went to Walmart and found this yummy yellow paint in the discount bin for $6!!! I hired a little helper.......

I then went to Hancock fabric and found this black and white fabric for $4 a yard! and I only needed 1-1/2 yards to cover the window, under the counter AND cover these old silver boxes.

I then got out my arsenal of black spray paint and went to town- painting baskets, boxes, and old stool, and wall decor. Here are the after pictures. I must say doing laundry is now so much fun (well almost)

DIY time

I have been on this major Do-it-Yourself craft kick thanks to my dear friend over at

So here are some pictures of my latest projects. The first one is my attempt at a fall tassel-this was so much fun to make.

As you know I am also doing a makeover in my laundry room (which I will post this weekend) and I had these old silver boxes that I stored pictures, cards, craft stuff, etc..... they needed a serious make over so out came the black paint, scrapbook paper, and trim...... here's the before

and after.............................

and speaking of black paint. I am now obsessed with anything and everything black. It is amazing what a little black spray paint will do. These next two pictures are my latest spray paint jobs. One is a basket I got at Marshalls for $5 - it was bright pink- it now holds my dryer sheets. The other is a wrought iron key I got at Hobby Lobby for $7. It was this ugly gold and rust color- get out that little can of spray paint and ta-da!!

1st day of school

*sniff* *sniff* excuse my while I wipe my eyes.

Today was my daughters first day of Kindergarten. and Yes it is worse on the parent than the child. She was up at 6:30 bright eyed and ready to go.

We walked her to her classroom and she went straight to her teacher and gave her a big hug!

She even told all the cross gaurds and people in the hallway- "today is my first day" Thank you God for such a precious, friendly, strong little girl. My heart aches today knowing this is the first of many steps towards independence, yet I also rejoice at what an amzing strong woman she will one day be. Just keep the boys away God!!

Laundry room Part 2....

ok everyone- I finally started. I spent all afternoon cleaning, dusting, and throwing away the junk. To see what I started with read my Laundry Room Post-"Im getting help" http://theecklife.blogspot.com/2008/07/im-getting-help.html

Im headed off on a paint hunt today- Im going to look at the discount bins and see what premixed colors they have (apparently people return paint ALL the time because of wrong color) in comes me and buys it up MUCH cheaper than if I had them mix it for me. The only down side is- if you REALLY want a specific color you have to pay the price. Im also on a fabric hunt today- and have been told by others that many times Walmart- yes Walmart has some good cheap fabric. Im going to "Mistreat" laundry room window and table. A-la The Nesting Place style >

So stay tuned........................

Say it isnt Sew......

Ok here is my 1st attempt of "mistreating" my windows. NO SEWING ALLOWED. I had these plain green napkins thrown over my curtain rods in my kitchen for some time.

I got tired of the plain green and wanted to spruce up the windows and bring in some black. Because my walls are wallpapered (by previous owner) and I don't have the time or money to redo the walls- I have to accessorize my kitchen to make it look cute. It took about 3 yards of this beautiful black gathered fabric from Hobby Lobby (on sale mind you) 4-5 yards of trim, glue gun, and ribbon (that I got on sale after Christmas for $1!!!---25 yards of ribbon for a $1) I knew this ribbon would come in handy soon.

So here's the finished product. Its not the best but it works for me!

Something old into New

Ok so its time for fall---well not exactly but I am in the fall mood and wanted to start a fall project--I shopped the house (that's what you do when your broke) and found this urn that I bought at Target years ago 1/2 off at Christmas- it had pine cones and other Christmas decor in it. I later ripped that out and attached some moss and this grapevine ball.

Well now Im soooo over that I decided to paint it,

add more moss and attach this cute little pumpkin.

AND my sister is getting married this next year and her colors are black, ivory and green- so I may rip off the pumpkin and add a green moss ball on top (who knows!) the possibilities are endless!

But hear me out- I have a baby coming in less than 4 weeks- if I wait till Fall it will be Christmas before I get the stuff put out. So Im decorating for Fall plus The Nester from "> said it was "OK" to put out your pumpkins-so Im going for it.

My little "niche" in the entry way- one day I WILL paint that-but I have to paint the rest of the room too and its 2-stories high *sigh*- I dont even own a ladder that tall!

Dining room table

A little something for the stairs

oooo I made this myself- went to Hobby Lobby got it all for half-off. This little guy only cost me $7.00 to make- yippie!!!

Another view of the table
