Gorgeous custom 40" ottoman:

Mirrored console table was a Joss & Main find and the lamps and wooden bowl are from HomeGoods.  I love mixing budget friendly items with high end ones.

I also love mixing textures in a space.  This organic wooden bowl filled with seashells is the perfect juxtaposition sitting on top of the modern mirrored sofa table.

More texture--  this West Elm tray  A great size and an even better price! The antlers are a thrift store find spray painted silver for some glam.

Nailhead trim side table from a local design showroom and more fun HomeGoods accessories- again mixing the high and low for a collected feel. A peek at the Schumacher Betwixt custom pillows- I never tire of this fabric!

My client is beyond thrilled with her space and that my friends is why I love what I do!

Cheers!!

Client Project: Before and Afters

When I first met with my clients last year they were wanting to do away with the dark brown walls and outdated light fixtures. This space was from a previous home owner and did not reflect their style at all.  We painted the entire downstairs and upstairs Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter.  The only item that stayed in this space was the dining room table and the large arched mirror was moved to the living room.

We added wall sconces on either side of the mirror for more light and the sisal rug gave a great contrast to the dark wood table.  The gray & cream striped fabric used on the custom side chairs was also used on a custom settee set under the stairs across from the dining room. The upholstered nailhead trim end chairs, mirror and console are from the local design center here in Houston.  We used Currey & Company lighting throughout the house.

For the powder bath we kept the mirror and switched out the countertop for a beautiful carrara marble.  We added a vessel sink and chrome fixtures.

But by far the greatest transformation of this space was the Schumacher wallpaper!  Its a beautiful trellis pattern on a silver foil background.

Greek Key: A Classic

Greek Key is one of those motifs that I never tire of.  Its classic, graphic design  adds a touch of elegance to any space.  I love it applied to the leading edge of drapery.

I even did a DIY Greek Key trim on some drapery in my old dining room last year.  (new dining room photos to come soon! I promise!)

Or used on pillows:

Here are a few of my favorite sources for Greek Key trim:

Samuel and Sons  1-3/8" and 2.75" widths

Samuel and Sons

Kravet  3.5" wide

Mary McDonald for Schumacher
6" wide tapes

M & J Trimming- 2.36" wide  $9.98/yard

***The Kravet, Schumacher and Samuel & Sons trims are available through Amanda Carol Interiors

I have decided to incorporate some greek key trim into my living room.
I purchased this sad, sorry 35" round ottoman years ago for $10.  I saw past its granny floral and knew it could be so much more.

The time has finally come and with this lovely gray velvet fabric and this Mary McDonald trim it will be transformed into a chic and sophisticated piece.

Here is what I envision:

Stay tuned..............
